Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP)

I was referred to Addenbrooke by my GP - NHS - to speak to Mr Aho about my benign prostatetic hyperplasia. I had a catheter in place and was expecting to be told they were going to shave it - and it was not something I wanted. Due to size HOLEP was mooted and I met Mr Aho to discuss this. We were initially told it would be a 6-8 month wait but this turned into a suggested 18 month waiting list - I at that point put my hand down the sofa and elected a private route. That all aside, the process - via the app - to get the appointment, to attend the clinic, the waiting time, friendliness of staff and the actual appointment itself - were all great. I cannot tink of any other adjectives because they did what they said they would do and got me "fixed". Once HOLEP was suggested I was able to Google the hell out of it and understand the solution. Once the private route was determined the rest became history but - in this instance and for this review - the NHS process was perfectly perfect apart from the waiting list disappointment which does not take away from the overall Addenbrooke experience or the political discussion that is not being solicited in this review......

Very happy with everything - operation and follow up 

Dr Khan has performed more than 7000 circumcisions in the UK. He also worked in Saudi Arabia for seven years as a Consultant and Assistant Professor in Paediatric Surgery/Urology.
