A lovely hospital the nurses who looked after me are worth their weight in Gold. Always pleasant even at 2am, 4am, 6 am etc. I was only in overnight but the hospital was clean the rooms were great and my family loved the food, I wasn't allowed to eat.

The staff were excellent. Friendly and with good English. Didn't eat many meals, but the sandwiches were good. Hot food choice was limited. Only really negative aspect was the state of the televisions. They were small, old units from an obscure and presumably cheap supplier, with poor sound and picture. The embedded software was diabolical. It took so long to respond you ended up pressing too many buttons. The Freeview signal was very poor. Late in the evening most channels became totally unwatchable. Attention Clare Park management: TVs are commodity items. A good quality LCD TV from a major manufacturer can be had for less than £300 and will last for years. Many patients rely on TVs to alleviate the hours of boredom, especially if it's difficult to hold a book, newspaper or magazine. Suggestions: 1) Replace the current rubbish with decent units from a major name, such as Samsung or LG, minimum size 32". We might even then be able to read the subtitles! 2) Get them wired up to Freesat rather than Freeview. This will resolve your reception problems except rarely during torrential rain or heavy snow. The HD is also better at 1080p, rather than 720p. 3) Allow the patients to use wireless headphones, either bringing in their own bluetooth or IR headphones (depending on TV) or hiring/lending them. This will avoid late evening noise issues, especially for elderly patients with hearing difficulties. 4) For real luxury, allow patients to log in to their own Netflix / Amazon accounts and watch streaming content. This would require smart TVs and a robust internet connection, but it would be a real selling point.
