Mr Darmarajah Veeramootoo is a highly driven consultant general and upper GI surgeon based at Frimley Park, Heatherwood and Spire Clare Park Hospital. He is presently the Lead Clinician for Upper GI Surgery at Frimley Health. He has been a consultant surgeon for six years, following six years of higher surgical training in the London/ KSS deanery. He is trained and experienced in emergency surgery, routine and complex general and upper Gastro-intestinal surgery, routine diagnostic and advanced endoscopy (EUS/ ERCP). Most recently, he has acquired proficience and is now a preceptor for robotic Upper Gastro-intestinal and General surgery.

Annually Mr. Veeramootoo performs around 400 operations, most of which are elective procedures: Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, Hernia Repairs, and complex UGI procedures (Giant Hiatus Hernia Repair, Anti-reflux surgery, feeding jejunostomy). In addition to his elective surgical list, he also performs 100+ emergency operations per year including: laparotomy for small and large bowel obstruction, peritonitis, hot cholecystectomy and appendicectomy, amongst others. His surgical outcomes are of incredibly high standard and his drive to ensure the best possible outcomes for his patients including minimal recovery times are cornerstones of his practice.

In addition to his surgical duties, Mr Veeramootoo is also involved in surgical teaching for junior doctors nationally (Royal College Faculty) and at Frimley Health. Mr Veeramootoo is also the clinical cross-site (Frimley Park, Wexham and Heatherwood Hospitals) lead for upper GI surgery. He also sits on various committees dedicated to medical education within the region and nationally. As a result of his continuous endeavour for excellence, he has won numerous awards throughout his career.
