Gastroenterologist
Essex, IG9 5HX
Dr Alan Watson is a doctor specialising on diagnosis and management of disease affecting the gastrointestinal tract and liver (Consultant Gastroenterologist). He works at Whipps Cross University Hospital as well as seeing patients in the private sector. He graduated from Cambridge University with distinction and trained in leading hospitals in London, Cambridge and Nottingham. He also worked at Cancer Research UK while studying for a PhD, with the work he did there appearing in world renowned medical journals such as Nature Medicine and Nature. At Whipps Cross, he continues to carry out patient-centred research as the Lead Clinician for Intestinal Research and Audit.
Dr Watson has considerable experience in performing endoscopic examinations with very little harm or discomfort to the patient. Such is his experience that he can undertake these examinations (gastroscopy, colonoscopy) at a more advanced level, utilising modern endoscopic techniques to resolve issues that may in the past have required an operation.
At a more personal level, Dr Watson competed in and won the Boat Race whilst he was at university and has raised thousands of pounds for charity by rowing across the Atlantic and completing desert ultra marathons. Dr. Watson evidently does truly care about others which highlights him as a doctor who would indeed go above and beyond for his patients.
