He then joined the cardiac medicine research group of Professor Sian Harding and Professor Philip Poole-Wilson, where he examined the effect of cardiac gene therapy on ventricular arrhythmia generation. He was awarded an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship in 2005 and later undertook a PhD at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, where he studied the spatiotemporal patterns of mitochondrial function.
He is currently chair of the UK Cardio-Oncology Consortium and a member of the Heart Failure Association Translational Research Committee.

Dr Lyon is an excellent Consultant Cardiologist and I would recommend him without hesitation. What I like is his holistic approach to heart health. He did not simply take the results and numbers from a blood test and prescribe medication. Instead he undertook a series of targeted tests to give him a sense of the key internal organs, arteries to then make a holistic assessment. His manner and style and how he explains this is excellent.
