Dr Anton Bungay is a consultant gastroenterologist with practices in Harley Street, Wimbledon and Kingston. He qualified in medicine in 1997 from Trinity College, University of Cambridge and was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2000. He later went on to complete his PhD from University College London 2008, after completing a period of scientific research at the Royal Free Hospital.
After Dr Bungay's gastroenterology and general medicine training at a variety of North London Hospitals he went abroad for a year working as a Clinical Fellow in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the Universty of Toronto based at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Under the direction of Professor Fred Saibil, Dr Bungay was able to treat patients presenting with the full spectrum of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and therefore he is trained to manage both complicated and less complicated disease.
In 2009 Dr Bungay was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at Kingston Hospital and since June 2017 he only now sees patients within his private practice in Central London, Wimbledon and Kingston Upon Thames.
His key areas of interest are Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, heartburn and indigestion, endoscopy including colonoscopy, abnormal liver tests and Coeliac disease.
Dr Bungay prides himself in being friendly and approachble. He strongly believes in placing patients at the centre of the decision making process as long as they have been fully informed of all their options.
His aim is for patients to feel at ease and to experience individualised care and to feel comfortable expressing how they feel.
