Dr David Jones is an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at NHLI and is currently locum Consultant in Cardiology (Cardiac Electrophysiology and Devices) at Harefield and Royal Brompton Hospitals.

Dr Jones studied at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, Imperial College London, obtaining B.Sc. with 1st class honours in the field of Cardiovascular Medicine in 1997, then MBBS in 2000. After graduation, he trained in general internal medicine at teaching hospitals in London and Plymouth, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003. He subsequently trained in clinical cardiology, electrophysiology and devices at Green Lane (Auckland, New Zealand), Charing Cross, Hammersmith, Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. He is accredited by the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) in both Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiac Pacing/ICDs.

His doctoral research (MD awarded 2013) was in the field of interventional electrophysiology in advanced heart disease. In particular, he looked at the role of ablation therapy in managing patients with atrial fibrillation and heart failure.

He regularly teaches cardiology trainees, electrophysiology fellows and cardiac physiologists, and runs simulator-based training at Harefield. Dr David Gareth Jones has published and presented widely in the fields of cardiac electrophysiology and devices, including in the sub-specialist area of congenital heart disease and cardiac transplantation.
