About

Dr Dilraj Kalsi (‘Dr Dil’) is a Lifestyle Doctor specialising in Functional Medicine. He graduated from the University of Oxford and, after working as a doctor, came to feel that patients’ symptoms were being treated rather than the deeper root causes of their long-term chronic diseases. After watching a loved one experience rheumatoid arthritis, Dr Dil was struck by the fact that all conventional medicine could offer her was long term medication and steroids. A lifestyle and diet overhaul following the advice of a Functional Medicine Nutritionist was sufficient to reduce and eventually cure her symptoms. Dr Dil was struck by the power of changes in a patient’s lifestyle to address the root cause of their chronic disease. Inspired, he trained in Functional Medicine, attending London’s Institute of Functional Medicine in 2018 to complete the “Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice” course.

He later founded “Hippocrates Lounge” so he could support patients with chronic disease in using lifestyle change to address their chronic disease. Dr Dil has come to believe how people eat, move, sleep, think and even their relationships are fundamental to their health.  At Dr Dil’s Hippocrates Lounge patients tell their stories, set their health goals and then collate a week’s worth of health-related data. They are then given a number of personalised recommendations to enable them to improve their lifestyles and achieve their goals. The Lounge then offers regular check-ins in order to obtain long-term, sustainable changes in patients' behaviour. Hippocrates Lounge offers several different packages according to patients’ needs.

Please note: Appointments are all online via video call unless requested in-person at 1 Harley Street in advance.

Just a little note to say thank you for your help with my health issues and for helping me feel like myself again. These chocolates, unfortunately, are not whole 30 compliant but are well worth the treat!

I am doing very well and my eczema is mostly gone! I have some dry skin on my hands I am trying to clear up but other than that feeling really good. My partner and I completed the whole30 and it is one of the best things I have ever done! Lost a lot of weight without really trying to which was wonderful but also realized the impact of certain foods on my body and felt amazing after completing it. Now trying to eat better and incorporate more vegetables and fish and cutting down on dairy, grains, beans, and sugar. During whole30 I noticed my eczema got slightly better but it was a small improvement. The big change happened when my sleep improved. Our son started sleeping through the night and within about 2 weeks of that my sleep normalized and my eczema just went away. During that period I was also trying to meditate for at least 10 minutes a day and that definitely helped me feel less anxious which helped me sleep. None of this would have happened if I hadn't spoken to you, so thank you for giving me a nudge in the right direction! Thank you very much.

I initially contacted Dr. Dil to help me with my Ulcerative Colitis with the end goal of reducing the medication I need to take. In my initial consultation, he identified various areas where I could make changes in order to reach my goal. Over the past several months, I’ve made simple but significant improvements to my daily routine and eating habits and am in a much better place mentally and physically. I now think much more intentionally about my food choices. I’m so confident in the direction we’re headed and the results that I’ll be able to achieve. I’d recommend Dr. Dil to anyone who’s looking for a more natural and well-rounded approach to well being, whether it’s to help with a chronic illness or just improve their overall health.

When I was diagnosed with diabetes I feared the worst. The thought of how it could effect my kidneys, my heart and my brain was harrowing. Dr Dil helped me turn that into motivation. Together we unpicked habits I had built over years that contributed to my deteriorating health. I managed to turn it around and build new regime of healthy habits. As intended when Dr Dil asked me my health goals, I lost over 10kg and am off my diabetes medications with my Hba1c going from 106 down to 36, all within less than six months. I am now truly empowered to use lifestyle to change my health and I would recommend Dr Dil to anyone looking to achieve the same.

“I’m one of those people who have longstanding health issues and desperately wants to be healthier but feels too busy to do anything about it. Working with Dr Dil showed me many things: that help from a GP is akin to putting plasters on without addressing the underlying issue, that health is integrated into everything we do, and that with the guidance you can radically transform your health without spending hours on it. Before, I was eating Deliveroo most nights, rarely exercising, working long hours, watching lots of Netflix and sleeping very little. Now I am cooking my own healthy meals, exercising daily and can prove (with data) that I’m sleeping better. But here’s the kicker. I’m still working hard. I feel happier, healthier and more productive. Where were you 10 years ago, Dr Dil?”

Dr Dil has always shown a passion for understanding and utilising lifestyle interventions to manage chronic disease, including sleep. He has a unique ability to translate that understanding into simple, actionable advice tailored to individual patients. It is inspiring to see a young doctor taking such initiative to make a real difference to patient care. ( from a colleague, Dr Ari Manuel)

I have known Dilraj for many years and as his mentor I have always seen his drive to help patients over and above what is currently available to them. He is constantly looking to innovate for the betterment of patient care. It is admirable that he is taking lessons learned in managing chronic illness from his own life to the masses. Most importantly, his focus on understanding patients and their values underpins his work and will no doubt help all of his patients become healthier.( from a colleague, Prof Ashok Handa )
