Dr Bountouni is a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist working in the Practice-Based Mental Health Team at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, a team that provides care to patients presenting with a wide range of psychiatric conditions from depression and anxiety disorders to psychosis, bipolar and personality disorders.
Dr Bountouni completed her post-graduate training at South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) which is the only mental health trust in the UK to have its own biomedical research centre (BRC) and is part of one of England’s six Academic Health Sciences Centres, King’s Health Partners. During her training in SLaM, she worked alongside world
renowned professors and clinicians in mental health.
Dr Bountouni trained for one year at the National Affective Disorders Service (SLaM), one of only six national effective disorder units in the UK, and is equipped with specialist clinical skills to manage and treat patients with refractory depression and bipolar affective disorder.
She worked for 6 months in the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at the Maudsley Hospital and gained wide experience in treating complex psychosis/schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders and mania.
Dr Bountouni trained in adult ADHD and ran an outpatient specialist diagnostic and follow up adult ADHD clinic at Lewisham University Hospital.
She trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and delivered CBT for obsessive-compulsive-disorder, health anxiety and generalised anxiety disorder during her placement in Southwark/Lewisham Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Team (IAPT).
