He works as an NHS consultant at Queen Mary’s Hospital and St George’s University Hospital. Dr Ferguson is an Honorary Consultant at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital, St John's Institute of Dermatology.

Dr Ferguson has a special interest in all hair-loss conditions in adults and children including alopecia areata, androgenetic alopecia (male pattern balding and female patterned hair loss), scarring alopecia (including lichen planopilaris) and scalp disorders including folliculitis and seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp, and all nail disorders.

Dr Ferguson is also experienced in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer including non-melanoma and melanoma cancers. He also covers all adult general dermatology. Dr Ferguson performs skin biopsies and skin surgery for skin cancers.

Dr Ferguson aims to listen to his patients and to be supportive. To help his patients better understand progress he uses clinical photography to monitor responses to treatment.
