Dr Laura Haigh is an experienced Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist working both privately and in the NHS with adults and young people with psychological difficulties including depression, anxiety disorders (panic attacks, worry/GAD, social anxiety, OCD, phobias, health anxiety), low self esteem and a wide range of other difficulties from body image problems to sleep and alcohol problems.
As a trained Clinical Psychologist, whilst she specialises in using CBT because it is so effective, she is also able to draw on other psychotherapeutic models where appropriate and that she deems useful to the client. These include Meta-Cognitive Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, Compassionate Mind Therapy and systemic and narrative therapy.
Dr Haigh's training also means she has extensive scientific knowledge of other factors which may impact on people’s development and their current functioning, such as developmental psychology, cognitive difficulties and diagnoses and attachment theory.
She also uses mindfulness techniques and can provide Cognitive Behavioural Coaching; working with lots of people on professional goals and performance.
Treatment is planned according to a ‘map’ of her patients current difficulties, from which both her and the client agree according to the clients priorities. This patient centred approach is key to Dr Haigh' success in psychology and cognitive based therapy, and ensures all her patients receive the best treatment and care for a variety of conditions.
