Dr Lokesh Wijesekera is a Consultant in Clinical Neurophysiology, with a particular interest in diagnosing muscular disorders using nerve conduction studies and electromyography. These disorders include carpal tunnel syndrome, myopathies, motor neurone disease, myasthenia gravis, ulnar neuropathy and nerve injuries. He mainly carries out electrodiagnostic tests according to the symptoms numbness, weakness, muscle fatigue and pain. Furthermore he performs tests for the nervous system including electroencephalopathy (EEG) and evoked potentials (EPs).

Dr Wijesekera graduated in 2001 from St Bartholomew's and the Royal London Hospital School of Medicine and Dentistry. Following this, he completed his neurology training at Kings College Hospital London. He then undertook further training in Clinical Neurophysiology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery Queen Square. He has been working as a Consultant Neurophysiologist since 2013 for the Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust and the Cambridge University Hospital NHS Trust.

Furthermore, he has numerous publications in motor neurone disease, and has experience in working in phase 1 and 3 clinical trials.
