Dr Lucy Blows is a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in interventional cardiology.
She is currently the Clinical Lead for Cardiology at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals.
Dr Blows completed her undergraduate training at Southampton University in 1995 and went on to achieve an MD from St. Thomas’ Hospital for research into coronary artery disease and micro-vascular abnormalities in the context of angioplasty. She undertook her Specialist training in Cardiology as part of the South Thames Training scheme and undertook her Interventional training at St Thomas' Hospital in London and Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
At the end of the specialist training program, Dr Blows was also awarded an international Interventional Cardiology Fellowship in Australia, which she undertook before starting work as a Consultant Cardiologist in Brighton in 2010.
Dr Blows has a special interest in diagnosing chest pain and managing patients with established coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndromes. She uses a wide range of non-invasive tests and uses physiological measurements and intravascular imaging to achieve a high diagnostic quality and to guide treatment. Dr Blows performs coronary angiograms and coronary angioplasty for both stable angina and emergency procedures.
In addition she looks after patients with all general cardiology problems including palpitations, heart failure and valvular heart disease.
