Dr Makrina Savvidou is a Consultant Obstetrician and recognised subspecialist in Maternal and Fetal Medicine.
Dr Savvidou graduated in 1992 from Aristotles Medical University in Greece and moved to the UK to work as a doctor. She has trained extensively in a range of major teaching hospitals. Her first training post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology was in the North West London Deanery and was awarded Membership at the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1998. Following this, she sought further sub-specialisation in Fetal and Maternal Medicine at King's College Hospital, receiving her Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2007.
In addition to her clinical training, Makrina has built a strong research background. In 2004, she obtained her MD degree from the University of London.
Her main interest lies in obstetric ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis. She has studied normal and abnormal pregnancy extensively. Her experience enables her to deliver healthcare with a strong evidence-based foundation. She always strives puts the wishes of the parents-to-be at the centre of all decision making.

I had an excellent experience under the care of Dr Makrina Savvidou. She was thorough, clear, paid attention to every detail and explained everything during my pregnancy and delivery. She made me feel comfortable every step of the way.

Dr Savvidou has been amazing throughout my pregnancy, labour and postpartum. She is lovely and was always happy to answer all my questions. Her confidence, knowledge and general attitude always made me feel very safe and well cared for.

I’ve actually been putting off writing this review because the feelings of immense gratitude and awe I have for Mina make me so emotional! Mina acted with care, caution and professionalism in all of my appointments with her and facilitated a birth experience I never dreamed I could have. I am forever grateful to her and will never forget her - I’m very sad to not have weekly/monthly appointments with her any more. I felt in the most capable hands and totally safe at all times with her. She reassured me when I needed reassuring and investigated things diligently. She is one of a kind. Dr Savvidou has been absolutely wonderful throughout my pregnancy, during the delivery and the postnatal care. I wanted a natural birth and she was very respectful of my choices but still making sure that my little one and I are safe at all times.

Dr. Savvidou was my first choice when I found out I was pregnant. She was recommended to me by fellow colleagues who had a very good experience . From the beginning Dr. Savvidou took great care of me and my baby. Although my pregnancy was a bit bumpy at the beginning she showed concern and support and with her care we reached a full term. As a doctor myself I felt very anxious knowing of multiple possible complications but Dr. Savvidou with her lovely approach, attitude and outmost professionalism put my mind at ease and my whole journey with her could not have been any better. I will surely refer back to Dr. Savvidou for further pregnancies If I wish to expand my family even more !

I delivered my twins in October 2021 with Mina, and can’t recommend her enough. She is very professional and knowledgeable, but at the same time is very personable. Mina has a data-driven approach and when giving an advice, provides arguments for both sides of the story, helping make an objective decision. She is very approachable and was always responsive to all my questions throughout the pregnancy. Highly recommend!
