Dr Mark Furman is a paediatric gastroenterologist based at The Portland Hospital for Women and Children and Wellington (HCA) Diagnostic and Outpatient Centre in Golders Green and Elstree. Dr Furman earned his medical degree from the University of Cape Town in 1991, as well as a diploma in child health. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1997.
He is actively involved in clinical research, particularly in the areas of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), eosinophilic esophagitis, and coeliac disease. He also gives talks at national and international conferences and serves on a number of expert committees in the United Kingdom and Europe.
