Dr Michael Robson, Consultant Nephrologist, is currently working within the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust. Dr Robson began his medical education at the University of Oxford, where he graduated with a First Class degree in 1989. His specialist training in nephrology was at King's College and Guy's Hospitals. He was awarded a Medical Research Council fellowship to study glomerulonephritis at Imperial College London, and was awarded a PhD in 2000. He was appointed to his current NHS post in 2002, he is now the Nephrology Lead in lupus nephritis and vasculitis clinic in his NHS Trust.
Dr Robson is an active researcher with a keen interest in glomerulonephritis, and its pathology to discover novel therapeutics. He was also the Chief Investigator for the PAVE trial, a multi-centre clinical trial examining how to preserve vascular access for haemodialysis. Additionally, he was also the Chair of the UK Renal Association Clinical Practice Guideline Committee for 4 years until June 2021.

Dr Robson received me on time. He listened carefully to what I said and studied carefully the information I provided. He deducted what needed to be done very logically and swiftly. His approach was very reassuring and he explained his thoughts to me very clearly. Dr Robson was very helpful and phoned me the day after at exactly the time he said he was going to phone me to discuss the results of my blood test findings. His written report arrived promptly via email. I am very pleased with the care provided by Dr Robson and highly recommend him.

It has shown patience when I was explaining my case and he has very explanatory about the next steps.

Doctor Robson reviewed my recent medical history, gave me a short physical examination then we discussed possible outcomes. He helpfully answered my questions and gave me a good overview of my options. Ultimately, he decided to refer me to a different specialist who would be able to offer me further guidance.

I felt heard and I felt ‘human’ throughout the consultation and treatment provided by Dr Robson. He listened - totally, and actively answered my questions by pointing to and talking about various sections of my results. Dr Robson explained the tools used to measure and he interpreted findings.
