*******************************
Dr Naomi Potter has worked in the NHS for 16 years. She
gained experience in several large London teaching hospitals including St Mary's
Paddington and the Royal Free. She worked in the fields of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology under Professor Lesley Regan, Accident and Emergency Medicine,
Psychiatry and General Practice and is a Member of the Royal College of General
Practitioners. She worked as a GP for 9 years in South West London and Surrey. During
this time, she became more focused on and passionate about women's health and
in particular menopause care as it became apparent management in primary care was
poor and outdated and access to good specialist care was scarce.
She was awarded the British Menopause Society specialist Advanced
certificate in menopause care after completing training under the supervision
of Nick Panay (former chair of the British Menopause Society). She has
subsequently established a private menopause clinic dedicated to excellence
in menopause care. Her areas of expertise include menopause and Hormone
Replacement Therapy using body-identical hormones, early menopause, surgical menopause and primary ovarian insufficiency (POI).
Her years and breadth of experience as a GP plus her specialist training mean that
she is fully equipped to treat menopause alongside other co-morbidities
including mental health issues, diabetes, cardiovascular problems, migraine, patients
with breast cancer or with strong family histories, and metabolic issues.
Dr Potter has Bachelor of Science and Master of Science
degrees in Psychology from the University of Nottingham. She graduated from the
University of London in 2003 with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery
degrees and became a fully registered doctor in August 2004. Her interest in
Women's Health stemmed from her medical undergraduate career when she
co-authored and published a textbook on Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is a
Diplomate of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Faculty of
Sexual and Reproductive Health. She also has a membership of the Royal College
of General Practitioners, General Medical Council, British Medical Association
and British Menopause Society.
She prides herself on excellence in listening to and understanding her
patients' concerns and preferences in a warm compassionate sensitive manner. Dr Potter is fully understanding of the
holistic nature of menopause care and wishes of patients. She is experienced in
the use of complementary therapies including natural therapies and
psychological intervention.
Alongside
her professional work, she has an interest in running, cycling and travel.
She has run a number of half marathons, completed the Prudential 100-mile bike
ride and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for charities. She has a large family of 5 children including
a set of twins. She therefore fully empathises with the challenges women in
their midlife face. Her patients find her empathic, warm, understanding and
compassionate.
She has written articles
on women's health and general medical issues for a number of national
publications. She was a monthly contributor to Weight Watchers magazine and
Stella Magazine (the Weekly Sunday Telegraph magazine), Now magazine, Daily
Express , Mother and Baby magazine and the Daily Mail.
