Nisith is a senior consultant in the Dermatology Surgery and Laser Unit of St John’s Institute of Dermatology (Guys' and St Thomas’ NHS Trust). He holds a substantive consultant post here and helps train junior doctors and the honorary consultants who visit from external departments to gain further experience from the UK and abroad. This is the largest clinical dermatology department in the UK. It opened in 1868 and is now one of the world’s leading centres for patients with skin problems.
Nisith entered medical school with a British Medical Association scholarship and graduated with class and national prizes. He went on to train in the UK, USA and Canada and completed additional fellowship training in complex skin surgery, particularly Mohs micrographic surgery, lasers and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. He won an award at the American Academy of Dermatology for research in melanoma skin cancer.
Nisith treats a range of skin problems including acne, rosacea, moles, skin cancers, scars, discolouration, eczema, psoriasis and ageing skin. Nisith also receives referrals from GPs and other specialists for his opinion on managing common and rare skin problems and complications following cosmetic procedures.
He has access to the latest technology and has a network of highly trusted colleagues from other specialties who he can call upon to manage the most complex cases.
He is often invited to give lectures at specialty conferences and advises the media and legal profession on a range of skin topics. He is a regular speaker for the European Society of Micrographic Surgery.
Nisith sits on the boards of a number of national and European committees, including ones for the British Cosmetic Dermatology Group and the Royal College of Surgeons Cosmetic and Reconstructive Interface Group, that set standards for practice and training. He is also a college representative for The Royal College of Physicians.
