Dr Peter John Vincent Hanson is a renowned and respected Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist working with BMI Healthcare.

Dr Hanson specialises in Colorectal Surgery and Gastroenterology. He also has a keen interest in Bowel diseases including inflammatory bowel disease, hepatobiliary, capsule endoscopy, irritable bowel syndrome, malabsorption, peptic ulcer disease., cancers and infections of the gastrointestinal tract. He offers both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and offers a tailored approach to providing the best care possible for his patients.

In his career of over 35 years, he has published many accredited research journals and studies. He is highly involved in medical education and is often a guest speaker for GP trainees, and organises seminars with colleagues to discuss topical areas of gastroenterology. His experience and vast knowledge have led him to the honourable position of expert witness.

Dr Hanson began his career in Medicine with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Westminster Medical School in 1982, followed by a degree in Medical Sciences in 1983. He received a Doctorate from the prestigious Cambridge University in 1991 and underwent further training in Video Capsule Endoscopy. In 2006 he was awarded a certificate in Medical Education, and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Gastroenterology at the renowned University of Oxford. He is a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology, and is a Fellow in both the Royal College of Physicians and Royal College of Medicine.

In his spare time, he enjoys sailing, going to the opera and walking coastal walks with his labrador retriever Polly.
