Mr Hodgkins is a consultant ophthalmologist who trained at Birmingham Medical School and initially worked in A & E and neurology. He trained in ophthalmology in Southampton, Portsmouth and Cambridge and undertook further specialist training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Great Ormond Street and Cambridge. Since becoming a consultant, he has been trained in endoscopic watery eye surgery and eyelid plastic surgery.
He currently performs most cataract removals using topical (drops) anaesthesia and phacoemulsification. He now runs a Botulinum toxin service and performs eyelid plastic surgery (blepharoplasty) and he has an active research interest in Marfan's, nystagmus and intraocular lenses in children.
