Dr Rajiv Malhotra is a Consultant in Pain Management based in Liverpool. He qualified from University of Liverpool in 2006.
Rajiv's expertise lies in dealing with patients with long-term pain conditions and acute exacerbations of pain conditions, including back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, arthritic pain, pain after surgery, complex regional pain syndrome, nerve-type pain and pain related to cancer. He also performs a wide range of interventional procedures and has a specialist interest in the use of nerve blocks for the long-term management of back pain, as well as shoulder and knee osteoarthritis.
Rajiv works within a multi-disciplinary team and works closely with physiotherapists and psychologists, providing medical input into the local fibromyalgia management course and manages a number of patients with this condition. Additionally, he also deals with patients who experience chronic chest pain, including refractory angina and contributes to patient education as part of the Liverpool Refractory Angina Centre.
He is the Lead Consultant for numerous educational training courses and draws upon knowledge gained from his recent Masters in Medical Education. He lectures nationally on topics related to Pain Medicine, particularly the management of flare-ups of poorly controlled pain.
