Dr Rakesh Sharma is a consultant Cardiologist specialising in arrhythmias, complex cardiac pacing and heart failure.
He graduated with triple honours from Guy's and St Thomas' hospital in 1995. He then went on to complete his postgraduate Cardiology training at a number of London hospitals including Harefield and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospitals.
He was granted a British Heart Foundation fellowship to undertake a PhD at the National Heart and Lung Institute (Imperial College), for which he was subsequently awarded the prestigious American Heart Association Young Investigator Award in 2000.
He is now the clinical lead for heart failure at the Royal Brompton Hospital whilst continuing to carry out cutting-edge research in heart failure and cardiac device therapy, having over 100 peer-reviewed articles to his name. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London.
