Dr Rami Sweis is a consultant gastroenterologist at UCLH and Senior Clinical Lecturer at UCL. He specialises in endoscopy with particular expertise in investigating and managing complex benign and malignant upper gastrointestinal disorders.
Owing to his extensive medical experience, he has particular knowledge in conditions such as achalasia, oesophageal spasm as well as reflux-related disorders such as heartburn and regurgitation. Added to this, Dr Sweis is the Upper GI Physiology Unit Lead at UCLH, a tertiary centre where problems of reflux and swallowing are investigated and managed using the most advanced technologies, methodology and therapeutics.
He can provide an array of endoscopic treatments, including Dilatation, Stent insertion, Laser, Radiofrequency Ablation, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection and Dissection.
Beyond his clinical pursuits, Dr Sweis is an active member of the international High Resolution Manometry Working Group. He is also a member of the Neurogastroenterology & Motility (NGM) Committee and a clinical representative of the Association of GI Physiologists (AGIP) Committee of the British Society of Gastroenterology. To this extent, he has an interest in teaching and training and has organised a number of Upper GI Symposia as well as Hands-on Training Meetings in Upper GI physiology on a national and international level.
