About

Dr Ravi Assomull is the Clinical Lead for the Imperial College Cardiology Service in Ealing. He is also an Interventional Cardiologist practicing in the hospitals of London North West Healthcare NHS Trust

He completed his medical training at The University of Cambridge qualifying in 1999. He was subsequently awarded with Junior Fellowship from the a British Heart Foundation which enabled him to fund his MD research degree at The Cardiac MRI Unit of the world renowned Royal Brompton Hospital in London.

Dr Assomull is passionate about his field of expertise and his research has been presented at International Conferences in both Europe and the USA and continues to be widely cited in medical literature. Dr Assomull continues to be involved with research that is exploring the applications of Cardiac MRI and Coronary Intervention in current clinical practice. His research thesis was awarded the Ralph Noble Prize in 2012 by the University of Cambridge.

Dr Assomull completed his specialist Cardiology training in North West London where he was awarded the prestigious Imperial College Interventional Fellowship two years in succession. Dr Assomull prides himself in providing a tailored approach to every patient he sees. He is dedicated to staying up to date with the latest and most appropriate investigations to ensure  that he can offer the best possible treatment to his patients.

Dr Assomull's approach allows for an accurate diagnosis to be made swiftly, safely and efficiently. He often uses advanced cardiac imaging (Cardiac CT and MRI) to provide detailed imaging of the heart. This imaging effectively guides any subsequent invasive procedures (e.g., angioplasty). The MRI protocols that Dr Assomull has devised also allow for thorough investigations of rare causes of hypertension because he will also image the kidneys and other organs where high blood pressure may be indicated.

Dr Assomull can be seen at convenient locations in Central London (27 Harley Street and The Wellington Hospital) as well as in West London (BMI Syon Clinic).

Dr Assomull is the most approachable and skilled cardiologist I have worked with. He takes a genuine interest in promoting health education, not just to patients but to other colleagues and GPs. As such he has helped me develop a lot of confidence in my approach to patients with heart disease and he is my go-to specialist when a case is too complex and requires his expert opinion. He is friendly, down-to-earth and caring.
