Dr Reshma Rakshit is a Consultant Gastroenterologist who has been working in Chelmsford since 2009. She began practising at Broomfield Hospital where she was the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Lead and the Lead for Endoscopy Training. She now provides a Gastroenterology service in the Springfield Hospital, where she is also the only female Colonoscopist. She has returned to Broomfield Hospital in 2020 and continues to practice at Springfield Hospital and Spire Hartswood Hospital.
Owing to her extensive medical experience, she has an invested interest in all aspects of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. She graduated in Medicine from India in 1997 and thereafter completed Specialist Training in the University Hospitals of Leicester, culminating in a CCT in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in 2009. Previous to this, she researched the effects of Inflammatory Bowel Disease on Bone metabolism and was awarded a Masters in Health Services Research by Nottingham University in 2006. She has a postgraduate certificate degree from University of Southampton (2018) on Allergy and Immunology.
She has a keen interest in Neurogastroenterology and sits on the Neurogastroenterology Committee of The British Society of Gastroenterology.
Furthermore, Dr Rakshit has general gastroenterology experience including inpatient, outpatient and interdisciplinary review of patients.

Dr Rakshit quickly made me comfortable despite my worry about persistent health concerns including disturbing pain. She methodically explored and eliminated causes until the diagnosis was achieved. She clearly explained options throughout and her engaging manner inspired trust and confidence in her. I hope never to need her assistance again but I would refer to Dr Rakshit without hesitation and with absolute confidence. A lovely lady too.

Both my husband and I have been under the care of Dr Rakshit. She is such a lovely doctor, so personable and kind and puts you at ease straight away. Her investigation is always thorough and pragmatic. This together with an holistic approach instils total confidence in her ability to resolve the issue. Every part of the process is discussed and clearly explained so that you know exactly what is happening. We would both recommend her without hesitation.

I recently had a colonoscopy with Dr Rakshit. I was quite anxious as although being sedated I thought I would still be able to feel the procedure. I can honestly say I will never feel anxious again. I found it an interesting experience. I was awake but relaxed and knew what was happening. Dr Rakshit is so kind and caring and makes you feel at ease. She explains things clearly and I felt I could easily talk to her and I didn’t feel rushed. She has taken away all my anxiety about having this procedure done again in the future.
