Richard Shaffer is an expert in the use of radiotherapy and chemotherapy for the treatment of prostate cancer, bladder cancer, brain tumours and skin cancer. He is the UK's foremost expert in the use of radiotherapy for non-cancer conditions.
He has had 20 years of NHS oncology experience, including 10 years as an NHS oncology consultant. He is currently working privately mainly in Guildford and London and also less frequently in Windsor and Nottingham. He has held various leadership roles, mainly in the field of technical radiotherapy, and am currently consulting two days per week for GenesisCare (a private cancer company) to develop their UK radiotherapy service for benign disease and skin cancer.
Weekly clinics in Guildford (Wednesdays) and London Cromwell Hospital (Thursdays), Windsor (ad hoc, generally Monday/Tuesday) as well as a clinic every 2 months in Nottingham.
Self-pay fees are charged as follows:
Complex cancer (45 minutes) e.g. prostate, bladder, brain, complex skin = £250 new patient, £175 follow-up
Simple skin cancer, keloid scarring (30 minutes) - £150 new patient, £100 follow-up
Dupuytren's, Ledderhose, Plantar Fasciitis = free initial consultation

Dr Richard Shaffer treats patients with chemotherapy and radiotherapy for brain cancer, prostate cancer and bladder cancer.
He also treats patients with radiotherapy and chemotherapy for non-melanoma skin cancer, for instance, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and Merkel cell carcinoma.
He is an expert in the treatment of non-cancer conditions with radiotherapy, for instance, Dupuytren's disease, Ledderhose disease (plantar fibromatosis), plantar fasciitis, insertional Achilles tendonitis and keloid scarring.
