Dr Sethu Wariyar is a Consultant in Paediatric Neurodisability (Childhood Disability and Rehabilitation Medicine) with more than 25 years experience in General Paediatrics .
He has been a consultant for 14 years and has a special interest in neuro-developmental conditions (Neurodiversity). He has dual accreditation in both Paediatric Neurodisability and General Paediatrics from the Academy of Royal Medical Colleges, UK. He has worked as a consultant in varying settings- commencing at The Great Ormond Street Hospital, London followed by Great North Childrens Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne and at St Peter's Hospital Chertsey and is currently employed by the Sussex Community Foundation Trust in two sites at Chailey Heritage Clinical Services and in National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy (Young Epilepsy)
He has closely worked with Local Educational Authorities in both North East and in Surrey/ Sussex area.
He has been actively involved in research projects in the field of Cerebral Palsy, ADHD (including a drug trial) as well as in the domain of Communication Disorders. He has presented his research findings and delivered lectures and also conducted workshops at national and international venues and conference.
He is involved in training the paediatricians of the future being a senior MRCPCH examiner in exam venues in the UK and abroad. He has served as a Training Programme Director for paediatric training previously in the Northern Deanery (Health Education North East) and currently is a Training Programme Director in Kent Surrey Sussex Deanery (Health Education KSS).
