Dr Sheetal Sirohi is a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist and has held the position as an NHS Consultant since 2012. She treats a range of mental health conditions, including bipolar disorder, depression, personality disorders, schizophrenia, self-harm and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She works in inpatient wards and provides home treatment. She also works a psychiatric liaison in general hospitals and also works in prison and forensic teams. In 2017, she left the NHS to work in private practice.
She is enthusiastic in providing her patients with the best treatments and specialist mental health care. To improve her approach, she has previously created virtual patients and training films for psychotherapy and risk assessment. She has also supported the development of the Suicide Prevention Strategy for Surrey and aims to promote digital safety and awareness (‘Digital Risk’), in correspondence to mental health and use of the internet. Dr Sirohi has also been a video presenter for mental health portals online.
She has a role in the Royal College Public Education Committee in facilitating patient engagement. She also involved in initiatives, such as the ‘Happy Soul Festival’, which involves bringing about awareness of wellbeing and mental health in Afro-Caribbean and Asian communities. In addition to this, she has links with mental health charities, such as MIND.
Apart from her work she is involved in teaching and providing mentoring to psychiatric trainees. She presents at GP education events and carries out research.
