Dr Basu currently holds positions as Visiting Professor at the Manchester Metropolitan University and Senior Honorary Lecturer at the University of Salford, and takes a keen interest in teaching at postgraduate level and particularly in collaboration with allied health professionals,  as Dr Basu firmly believes in a holistic, patient-centred approach in achieving good medical practice and training. He also collaborates with his Orthopaedic colleagues and supports educational courses for Orthopaedic trainee doctors preparing for FRCS (Orth).

Outside of medicine, Subhasis leads an active life with his family with a love for international travel and immersing himself in different cultures. He has a passion for sports especially in tennis, football and cricket. Any free time is rapidly taken up through his voluntary role as a tennis umpire allowing him to officiate at tennis tournaments around the world; in 2017 he successfully officiated for his 11th consecutive year at the Wimbledon Championships, AELTC.
