Dr Toby Maher is consultant respiratory physician from London, UK. He also holds the positions of honorary senior lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, and honorary senior research associate at University College London.
Dr Maher qualified from Southampton Medical School in 1998. He trained in respiratory medicine at Royal Brompton Hospital, the Transplant Unit at Harefield Hospital and at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. During his training he gained an MSc in respiratory medicine from Imperial College London.
Dr Maher was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellowship in 2005. This then led on too him studying the molecular mechanisms involved in the development of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. This research was undertaken at the Centre for Respiratory Research, University College London and culminated in the award of a PhD.
Dr Toby Maher also lectures on topics related to pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial lung disease both in the UK and at major international meetings including in the United States
