Ian graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with first class Honours in 2000. He has since completed a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy at Latrobe University (2009) and a Masters in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning) at Edith Cowan University (2011). He achieved high distinctions in both, and received an award at LaTrobe University after achieving the highest grade in professional development studies.
As a physiotherapist, he has worked with private practice clients, hospital inpatient and outpatients, and with elite professional athletes. In 2006 he began working for the Australian Institute of Sport Tennis program as a physiotherapist and physical performance coach, and was the official physiotherapist for the Australian Davis Cup team from 2007-2013. In 2010, Ian managed all of the physiotherapy services for Tennis Australia in his role as National Physiotherapy Manager. A major part of his role was to co-ordinate the rehabilitation of injured athletes, from elite juniors to Australia’s Davis Cup tennis players. He continues to work these players at major ATP tour and Grand Slam events, including Wimbledon.
Ian has a special interest and a highly developed understanding of exercise rehabilitation. He combines this with a hands-on approach to bring about sustained long-term improvements in injuries and conditions.
