Miss Anne Gilvarry is a Consultant Opthalmic Surgeon with a special interest in glaucoma and cataracts. She obtained her medical degree from University College, Dublin, before specialising in Ophthalmology. She went on to train at Dublin's Mater Hospital and the Western Ophthalmic Hospital in London before taking on her senior training at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Miss Gilvarry began her first Consultant Ophthalmologist role at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, where she is still Lead Clinician. Her research and experience have mainly concentrated on the anterior portion of the eye and her work as a cataract surgeon has earned her international recognition.
Miss Gilvarry is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and for the last five years she has also held the role of Acting Chairman of the Royal Surrey County Hospitals Surgical Care Group. She counts the amalgamation of the Royal Surrey and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals eye departments among her most notable achievements.
