Dr Ahmed El-Amir is a leading international ophthalmic surgeon based in London. He has special interests in vitreoretinal surgery, retinal disease, cataract surgery and macular degeneration. He gained his qualification in medicine from St Mary's Hospital, then went on to study Ophthalmology and retinal disorders at Moorfield Eye Hospital in 2001.
He was the first surgeon in Europe to implant the miniature telescope, with The Centrasight Programme. Dr Ahmed El-Amir founded the Harley Street Eye Clinic, London in 2014, which provides world-class, multi-disciplinary ophthalmological treatments.
Dr Ahmed El-Amir was a senior registrar at Oxford Deanery School of Ophthalmology and Retinal Disorders. He also holds professional memberships with societies such as The British and Eire Vitreoretinal Society, The American Academy of Ophthalmology, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London.
Outside of ophthalmology, Dr Ahmed El-Amir is an avid football player and fan, He competes in friendly football matches and is involved with Tottenham Football Club Academy. He was born in Colorado, USA and raised in London, UK.
