Alex is happy to discuss extra -articular reconstruction with his patients. He was invited to give a talk to update on current techniques in ACL surgery at the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) in September 2020.
Alex was elected to the prestigious post of Honorary Secretary of the British Association of the Knee, the organisation representing the 600+ knee surgeons in the UK. In this position he has a major role in organising the BASK spring congress and BOA knee revalidation sessions, providing leading best practice education for consultant knee surgeons and driving standards of care nationally. He is also involved in policy development with the BASK executive. He is currently also a member of several working groups, including the BASK ACL injury prevention and BASK arthroplasty working groups.
Alex has worked hard to improve outcomes from surgery within the NHS Trust, and was previously governance lead for the department of trauma and orthopaedics in Gloucestershire. He was also infection control lead where he led work which introduced measures to minimise the risk from infection for patients undergoing surgery. In his NHS practice he is an Educational Supervisor for trainee surgeons and junior doctors.
Outside his busy roles in knee surgery he spends as much time as possible with his family and 3 small children. Alex enjoys passing on his love of football as a coach of an U7 football team at the weekend and is a Cheltenham Town season ticket holder.
