Mr Alexander Montgomery is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Clinical Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgery at The Royal London Hospital (Barts Health), the largest spinal trauma unit in the UK.

Mr Montgomery sees patients with all aspects of spinal conditions. He treats city walkers as well as amateur and professional athletes, including Olympic gold medalists, professional boxing champions, international rugby players, team sky cyclists. Mr Montgomery has extensive experience with degenerative and complex conditions. He performs minimally invasive surgery and uses this approach for anterior, posterior and lateral lumbar surgery, anterior and posterior cervical surgery, and complex deformity cases. His team at The Royal London was the first in the UK to use the robotic-assisted arm in spinal surgery.

Mr Montgomery is actively involved in teaching and training. He is an honorary senior lecturer at Queen Mary University and lectures all around the world. He regularly attends national and international conferences and presents his work. He has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
