About
Alex trained at St. Georges Hospital London before completing basic general surgical training in Kent. He went on to undertake research into the effects of reperfusion injury following Aortic aneurysm repair at Northwick Park hospital and then completed his higher surgical and vascular training in the south west.
In order to pursue his interest in endovenous therapies he was appointed a senior vascular and endovascular fellowship at the nationally renowned Freeman Hospital vascular unit in Newcastle and was subsequently asked to take up a consultant post there. Alex returned to the south in 2013 with his young family to assume the post of consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon at the Dorset County Hospital, part of the Dorset and Wiltshire NHS Vascular Network.
In concert with his good friend and colleague James Metcalfe, they have formed the Dorset County Vascular Group and along with their radiologists and associated specialists they continually strive to be champions for excellence and innovation for all their patients.

Mr Watson really put me at ease during the whole procedure. He explained everything to me and was very approachable and professional.

Incredible experience from the start, explained every option step by step and felt so well look after throughout out my appointments, amazing communication via email and phone calls. During my procedure I was made to feel very comfortable and relaxed, after care was stop on, extremely happy with my results. Very grateful to Mr Watson highly recommend.

I was seen promptly after arrival at the hospital and the whole procedure went smoothly. This was my second session with Mr Watson and the results already look good. His assistant was extremely helpful too.

For both my consultation and procedure; Alex was professional, friendly, down to earth, welcoming, conscientious and attentive. He is clearly a medical specialist in his field; information of procedures, options available to me and associated risks were explained in a clear, easy to understand manner (even repeated at times to ensure complete comprehension by myself), this was backed up with further reading material to take away, plus contact information should I have any questions or concerns. Details of all costs involved were presented in a upfront and accurate manner. During the procedure itself; I was given a clear description of what was occurring at each stage, there wasn't anything unexpected / that I wasn't well prepared for. Feedback on how I felt throughout the procedure was constantly obtained to ensure that I was as comfortable as possible at every step too. In summary; probably the best medical experience I've had, I felt truly looked after from start to finish.
