Mr Andrew Brooksbank is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialised in shoulder surgery who is currently based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Having graduated from University of Aberdeen, he has a vast experience and exposure to a wide range of shoulder pathology, including fractures, rotator cuff injuries and arthritic shoulder. He undertook specialist Fellowship training in shoulder surgery in Christchurch, New Zealand and Exeter, UK. As part of his training in New Zealand, he had the opportunity to work with professional athletes and develop his skills in complex arthroscopic shoulder reconstructions. In Exeter he worked with one of Britain's leading shoulder surgeons with areas of interest of frozen shoulder, rotator cuff repair and shoulder replacement surgery.
Mr Brooksbank is particularly interested in traumatic shoulder injuries and their complex reconstruction utilising arthroscopic surgery, treating both contact and overhead athletes.
Through his association with the Glasgow Sports Surgery Service (GSSS), Andrew is involved in the education of physiotherapists and healthcare professionals with an interest in sports injuries in addition to lecturing to Masters and undergraduate students at Glasgow University's Department of Sports Medicine. Andrew has also been intregral in developing the Glasgow Sport Surgery Service website and developed a new site which looks at shoulder conditions in more depth - PainfulShoulder.
