Explanation

I had pelvic organ prolapse repair surgery with Mr Gayen. I found him to be extremely kind and sympathetic. He took great care to explain the procedure to me and exactly what to expect. I went armed with a long list of questions and he patiently answered them all. The surgery seems to have been a great success and I am so pleased and relieved that I chose Mr Gayen and that I had the repair done. I would highly recommend Mr Gayen to anyone looking for this type of surgery.

Explanation

After my GP diagnosed a uterine prolapse, I asked a friend who is a general surgery consultant if he knew a surgeon who dealt with prolapse. His reply was that there was only one person to see – Mr Gayen. Before the surgery, Mr Gayen carefully & clearly explained that I had a 3 compartment prolapse and how it could have been caused. He then told me that surgery would cure the problem. I knew nothing about prolapse so I had a lot of questions which he answered in great detail and he explained how the surgery would be performed. He referred me to the IUGA website, patients notes section, this was very helpful in reminding me exactly what Mr Gayen had told me. I had no pain after the surgery and left hospital after less than 2 days I feel very lucky to have found such a brilliant surgeon.

Mr Gayen is very approachable and puts you at ease straight away. He explained the procedure to my level, drawing diagrams to help with the explanation. He then gave me an opportunity to ask questions. He visited me before the operation and checked I was happy and healthy. He has obviously done his job very competently as my complaint, which I have lived with for nearly 20 years has shown such a significant improvement that I feel like I have been given a new anatomy! It’s such a nice feeling to not have to worry! Very successful. 24 hours after the operation he checked on me, by giving me a phone call. I have also had my 6 week check. Both him and I are very pleased with the results. Thank you Mr Gayen!

Explanation

I had every confidence in Dr Gayen who explained in detail my condition and what my surgery involved. He visited me before surgery and was very reassuring about my forthcoming procedure. The day after my surgery he visited again to ensure I was making a good recovery, due to pain which was more than I expected I did make an earlier appointment to see him but he assured me this was normal following this kind of procedure. I have since had a follow up consultation with him and have now been discharged. I found Dr Gayen very helpful, reassuring and the perfect gentleman.
