Mr Arun Kumar is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hip & Knee Surgery based in Manchester. He currently sees private patients at Spire Manchester Hospital and Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle. He graduated with a medical degree in India in 1992 and subsequently completed a Master's degree in Orthopaedics in 1995. He then moved to the UK and completed a Master's degree in Trauma at the University of Birmingham in 2000. He then went on to complete his specialist orthopaedic training in the North West of England. Mr Kumar also completed a Diploma in Sports & Exercise Medicine in 2002. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Glasgow in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 2005.
Mr Kumar offers an excellent standard of care for treatments focusing on the knee and hip. He also regularly reviews academic journals to learn about new treatments for his patients. Mr Kumar also teaches, overseeing the education of both medical students and surgical trainees.
Mr Kumar has completed two prestigious orthopaedic fellowships. This includes 6 months in Toronto working primarily on uncemented hip replacements and revision surgery, as well as gaining further experience in lower limb replacements with the University Hospitals of Leicester.
Mr Kumar currently holds the post of Clinical Director for Trauma & Orthopaedics at the Manchester University, NHS foundation Trust.

Mr Kumar was kind and understanding to my condition at all stages of my treatment. His thorough diagnosis , treatment and follow up procedures were exceptional. I cannot thank him enough for my wonderful new hip and getting my life back again!

Mr Kumar is a very professional consultant. His expertise and abilities are amazing. I had a left hip replacement six weeks ago, I am now walking unaided, thanks to the dedication and care I received from Mr Kumar. I can't thank him enough for getting me back to being mobile and well.

Mr Arun Kumar carried out my hip replacement at the Alexandra Hospital ,Cheadle on December 2nd 2023. Prior to surgery Mr Kumar explained the whole process in a caring and empathetic manner putting my mind at ease. The surgery went very well and now eight weeks post op I am pain free and fully mobile. Thank you Mr Kumar for giving me my life back you are a wonderful surgeon.

From start to finish my knee replacement surgery has been a very positive one, I had total confidence in my surgeon Mr Kumar. My post operative recovery was phenomenal with no complications and I was almost back to normal within 8 weeks. I am so grateful and appreciative to Mr Kumar and his team for the excellent and outstanding level of care I received. I would thoroughly recommend Mr Kumar.

My hip operation was a great success. I have recovered very well by following the excercise regime given after surgery. Mr Kumar has a way to put you at ease and make you feel comfortable, he is very professional and an excellent surgeon.

From my initial consultation to my last Mr Kumar provided the utmost professional care and ensured the outcome of my hip replacement surgery was excellent.
