Mr Mohammad Ashraf Khan Raja is currently a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon practising at Ashtead Hospital in Ashtead, Surrey, UK. He is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Urdu, and has received a great deal of specialist training and numerous degrees. His specialities are colorectal and upper-gastrointestinal surgeries.
Mr Raja’s education began with his MBBS from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan in 1984, and went on to receive surgical training at the Mayo Hospital in Lahore, leading to the award of Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons - Pakistan (FCPS) in 1992. He then moved to England where he was inducted as Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in 1991, and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons England in 1992. Mr Raja then joined the South West Thames Higher Surgical Training Scheme, completing his MSc in Surgical Sciences from the University of London in 1996, and a Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff in 1998. He was granted a further prestigious induction as Fellow of the Intercollegiate Specialty Board of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1998, completing his surgical training in 1999.
From that time, Mr Raja has been active publishing several articles in peer-reviewed publications. He has also put his Diploma in Medical Education to good use, as he is actively involved in teaching and training junior doctors, medical students, and nurses in addition to his private practice at Ashtead.
Mr Raja is trained in a large number of medical and surgical procedures, especially those relating to the colorectal and gastrointestinal region. Whether a patient is suffering from a hernia, bowel cancer, gallbladder problems, pelvic floor or GI tract muscle disorders, abdominal pain, or simply in need of a routine colonoscopy, Mr Raja is skilled and experienced to provide the highest quality of care and best possible outcomes.
