Mr Okafor has been a Consultant in Orthopaedic and Trauma since 1998 and has a particular interest in spine surgery. He trained at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital/Royal Free Hospital Rotation both as a Registrar and a Senior Registrar. He went on to complete his FRCS.orth and gained his certification of specialist training. He then consequently undertook Spine Fellowships at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and University College London/Middlesex Hospital. Mr Okafo is a trainer for junior doctors and specialist registrars, whilst also working with a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists/radiologists/pain therapists/Spine surgeons and as a GMC appraiser. He provides support for community based musculoskeletal services and participates in providing both emergency services for the NHS, and undertaking major trauma work/complex spine surgery. This is alongside his routine elective surgery-spinal injections/decompressions/discectomies/cervicalspine surgery/kyphoplasty/spine fusions/spine reconstructions/disc replacements). Mr Okafor regularly performs routine and complex orthopaedic and spine surgery as well as supervising and training junior doctors. He provides specialist Spine opinion to other consultants inc orthopaedic surgeons, both at Whipps Cross University Hospital and elsewhere. He also receives a large volume of referals from east London and the Essex/neighbouring vicinity from general practitioners, orthopaedic consultants , non-orthopaedic consultants, pain therapist, physiotherapists, osteopaths and other professionals allied to medicine.
