About

Dr Ben Piper is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and the British Psychological Society. He works privately at the iRise Psychology clinic, where he is the clinical lead. Dr Piper offers short and long-term therapies drawing on both cognitive behavioural (CBT) and psychodynamic approaches, in addition to a number of group therapy options for specific disorders. 

Dr Piper's therapeutic approach involves integrative methods relying on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Humanistic therapy. In addition, he also has a keen interest in Mindfulness Meditation. 

His vast experience as a full time therapist for over 6 years is reflected in his therapeutic style, which is adapted to best meet the individual needs of each client. He also has extensive expertise working within a short-term/time-limited model.

I came to Ben with a problem I couldn't understand, rationalise, and ultimately solve. I had no clue what was happening to me, I was completely baffled - I could only describe. Ben listened, took his time to do so, and created a very calm and welcoming environment for me to elaborate. Already after the fist session I came away feeling relieved, even happy at having been given such an assured description of what was happening to me, and such a confident way of slowly treating this. Ben is incredibly incisive and knows when it is time to let the patient talk and then give advice, a verdict or suggestions for solutions. With Ben's descriptions of what my mind was doing and the tasks he set me, using different simple but very powerful tools, I quickly saw a difference in my everyday: I became stronger, more aware of how my mind works, and therefore became much more stable, happy, confident and assured - and not just in relation to the specific problem I was experiencing, but in other aspects of my life as well.
