David is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital. He specialises in treating lower limb injuries and has particularly wide experience in treating athletes from various sports presenting with knee ligament and cartilage injuries.
He works in both NHS and private settings treating both children and adults with compassion and respect for their individual needs. David has a special interest in knee ligament, meniscal and chondral injuries and for primary and revision joint replacements of the hip and knee.
David qualified from The Royal Free Hospital, London and also has a BSc from St. Mary's Hospital. He received his Specialist Orthopaedic training from the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and later pursued a fellowship in arthroplasty and sports medicine in South Australia. This fellowship introduced him to a wide range of contemporary treatments under the supervision of world-renowned surgeons. He also has a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
David himself is a keen sportsman and he represented England in the Rugby Students World Cup in 1988. His own experiences, and his role as Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon of Northampton Saints Rugby Club, allow him to deeply understand the physical and mental impact injuries can have on a person.
David has lectured both nationally and internationally and enjoys teaching junior Orthopaedic surgeons and medical students.

David and I have worked together for a number of years at Northampton General Hospital. He is an experienced surgeon with a good reputation. He is also an excellent colleague whose prime focus is patient's care, and he leads by example.
