Eddie Chaloner received his medical degree from Oxford University in 1989. He later qualified as a general surgeon in 2001, training in the UK as well as in South Africa. Initially he was appointed consultant vascular surgeon at University College Hospitals London, later moving to work as a consultant at Lewisham Hospital.
He has a great reputation in treating varicose veins and is undoubtedly one of the most experienced doctors within this area in the UK. Not only this, he was also one of the first doctors in London to use Endovenous Laser treatment (EVLT). He provides excellent care for patients who suffer from varicose veins in the 'Radiance Vein Clinic'.
By his own admission, his main interest these days, in civilian life, is in the latest techniques in venous surgery: "Having been fortunate enough to be the first surgeon in London to use the revolutionary EVLT laser for veins in 2002 my practice and interest in this fast moving area of surgery has expanded to take up most of my time!"
Nonetheless, it is not solely his clinical achievements that deserve merit, Mr Chaloner has given a great amount of his time to charitable causes and has been on several missions with 'Medecins Sans Frontieres' to conflict zones in countries including Afghanistan, Angola and Iraq.
