I am a Consultant in General and Transplant Surgery, particularly interested in managing hernias, Sportsman's groin and gallstones. My private practice is based at the Vale Hospital in South Wales, and my NHS practice is at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. I graduated from Comenius University in Slovakia, gaining an MD degree in 1999, where I also started my postgraduate surgical training. During this training, I developed a particular interest in biliary and pancreatic surgery, pancreas and kidney transplantation. After completing my specialist training in General and Upper GI Surgery, I held a Fellowship in Liver and Pancreatic Surgery at Hammersmith Hospital in London, a Transplant Fellowship in Manchester, and a Fellowship in Hepato-biliary and Transplant Surgery in Oxford. I have become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery, and a member of many professional bodies. Alongside transplantation, I have established excellent practice in hernia and Sportsman's groin surgery and gallstones and gallbladder surgery. In addition, I am incredibly interested in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery to treat gallstones and inguinal and abdominal hernias. Also, I perform single-incision laparoscopic surgery; patients benefit from better cosmetic effects, reduced post-operative pain and faster recovery. He regularly presents his work in national and international forums and periodically publishes it in peer-reviewed surgical journals.
