Ellis Downes is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the UK. His special areas of interest include 'keyhole surgery', endometrial ablation and treatment of patients suffering from urinary incontinence. In 2013 he featured in Tatler's Top 250 Doctors Guide.
Mr Downes helps women with heavy and/or irregular periods, pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, menopausal symptoms and urinary leakage. He offers general gynaecological reviews including cervical smears and fertility investigations, as well as having comprehensive pregnancy care packages from conception through to delivery at The Portland Hospital. Thanks to his reputation patients are willing to travel from abroad to be treated by him.
Mr Downes graduated from the University of Leicester in 1989 and qualified as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in 1999. He spent time working as a Consultant in the NHS for 11 years before deciding to commit full time to his private practice. Mr Downes is a member of The British Society of Gynecological Endoscopy, the International Society of Gynecologic Endoscopy and the International Continence Society. He also holds a number of leading positions including as a Visiting Professor at Middlesex University.
He is married to Louise, who helps him in the practice and have two children (George and Lily). Outside of medicine, He struggles on the golf course and loves messing around in boats.”
