Mr Carapeti received his medical degree from Guy's Hospital and completed his training in London and the South East of England. He undertook specialist training at St. Mark's Hospital in London and Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. In 2000, he received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree after completing research on the treatment of haemorrhoids and anal fissures. Mr Carapeti has published extensively on anorectal disorders and pilonidal sinus disease, and he has pioneered novel surgical approaches in complex recurrent pilonidal disease and in day-case surgery for haemorrhoids.
In addition to his colorectal work, he also has vast experience in treating both simple and complex abdominal and groin hernias. He is part of The Gilmore Groin and Hernia Clinic team, which repairs groin disruption (Gilmore's Groin). He has also spent time at The Shouldice Hernia Clinic near Toronto, gaining knowledge in the renowned Shouldice hernia repair technique.
Mr Carapeti is a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and an examiner in surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has also previously been a council member of the Royal Society of Medicine's Section of Coloproctology.
