About

Mr. Gary Maytham is a highly experienced Consultant Vascular Surgeon with a wide range of expertise. He holds several key positions, including Governance Lead for Vascular Surgery at St George's Hospital, London and the Clinical Lead for Vascular Trauma at the Major Trauma Centre. In addition, he delivers vascular surgical care to patients at East Surrey Hospital.  Mr Maytham is the Chief Medical Officer for UK Vein Care.

Mr. Maytham has developed a specialist interest in the management of venous conditions, including varicose veins, and he treats a large number of patients affected by varicose veins each year in both the NHS and private practice settings. His practice also includes the management of patients affected by peripheral arterial disease, aortic aneurysmal and carotid disease, lymphoedema and vascular and torso trauma.

He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. He later moved to the United Kingdom in 1998, where he continued his surgical training in the South West Thames region and at the Royal London Hospital.

Following this, Mr. Maytham conducted postgraduate vascular research at the University of Sheffield. His research focused on clinical recovery in a model of chronic moderate ischaemia, and he was awarded a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree for his work.

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr. Maytham is actively involved in surgical training and education. He serves as a faculty member on various surgical training courses delivered by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mr. Maytham also has a distinguished military background, having served in the British Army as a Medical Officer in the regular forces for 18 years. My experience from start to finish has be excellent. Having previously been told nothing could be done for my varicose veins, Mr Maytham was confident he could help. Having struggled in pain for many years, it was reassuring to have someone that understood. My surgery was straightforward and I’ve never felt better.
