Mr Hamid Khawaja is a Consultant General Surgeon and is sub-specialised in Laparoscopic and Colorectal Surgery. He is based at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation. Mr Khawaja also offers services in therapeutic endoscopy including Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP).
Mr Khawaja is passionate about his field of expertise and is committed to passing on his surgical knowledge and insight to junior doctors. He served on the South East London Training Committee for junior surgeons. Mr Khawaja also has a Diploma in Teacher Education for Medicine and Dentistry. He was the Director of the Evidence Based Practice module for the MSc in Surgical Practice at the University of Kent until 2011. His other interests include patient safety and health economics.
He has served as a council member (Treasurer and Editorial Representative) of the Section of Surgery at the Royal Society of Medicine since 2003 and is the current President of the Section.
