Ian Currie is an international recognised clinician with over 20 years’ experience in delivering healthcare to women. He was Vice President for the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists from 2012-2017.
He is well known both locally and nationally for the treatment of pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence and vaginal reconstructive surgery (including prolapse). He has specific expertise in post obstetric birth trauma. He also has a large general gynaecology practice that includes the treatment of menstrual disorders (heavy, painful periods), ovarian cysts, endometriosis and fibroids.
During Mr Currie's medical training, he undertook a clinical fellowship post in Toronto with world-renowned surgeon Mr Harold Drutz in urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery. Ian has several publications and articles as well as peer reviews for leading journals and has received the maximum Clinical Excellence awards points from his Trust. He was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in 1997 and his main NHS base is Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust at Stoke Mandeville where he held the post of the Divisional Chair for Women & Children's Services.
As a respected clinician he has lectured nationally and internationally and has had wide media exposure on radio , print and TV.
